Mclean, VA (Remote option)
Long-term 1 year+ consulting engagement

IMMEDIATE new job opening for a Network Engineer to join our team and work on-site at our client’s global HQs based out of Mclean, VA.  Dallas, Texas is another potential work location, and remote work may be an option for the right candidate.  This role

Network Engineer Responsibilities: 
Design company networks and provide detailed technical documentation (LAN, WLAN, WAN). 
Design, implement & audit complex configuration changes across a multi-vendor environment. 
Perform moderate network design engineering level functions in support of a multi-site enterprise environment. 
Manage small & medium scale complex projects understanding the interaction between wireless, voice, applications and network throughout an enterprise environment. 
Provide oversight and support in design, configuration, management and implementation of computer/network architecture environments. 
Demonstrate professional skill sets across multiple disciplines including IPS, Firewall, Route, Switch, SD-WAN, Wireless, VoIP. 
Work professionally and inter-actively with internal and external customers globally. 
Must be able act as a point of escalation for complex technical troubleshooting scenarios. 
Making decisions that are critical in the areas of throughput analysis, problem solving, and infrastructure planning with potential to affect the successful execution of business transactions. 
Coordinate with vendors to provide appropriate hardware to meet business requirements. 



Required Skills:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology related field of study with a network engineering focus. 
  • 15+ years’ experience working within Cisco Network environment.
  • Strong understanding of network infrastructure and network hardware. 
  • Ability to think through problems and visualize solutions. 
  • Familiarity with access control models and network security. 
  • Ability to work with a vendor to implement, administer, and troubleshoot network infrastructure devices, including wireless access points, firewalls, routers, switches & controllers. 
  • Strong understanding of networking and core Internet protocols (e.g. TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP, IPSEC, HSRP, BGP, OSPF, 802.11, QoS & distributed networks.). 
  • Ability to create accurate network diagrams and documentation for design and planning network communication systems for corporate offices & network security solutions. 
  • Ability to quickly learn new or unfamiliar technology and products using documentation and internet resources. 
  • Ability to work with all levels of staff within and outside of IT and outside the organization. 
  • LAN, WAN & Network security industry-related experience as a Network Engineer or Network Security Engineer. 
  • CCNP or CCDP. 
  • Solid understanding of Cisco network operating systems (IOS, IOS XE, NX-OS). 
  • Solid understanding and experience working on Cisco Platforms/LAN/Switching: Cisco Catalyst/Nexus Platform/Meraki, Ether Channel, Multicast, SNMP, VSS, VTP, STP, RSTP, HSRP/VRRP, vDC, vPC, VRF, DHCP, Traffic Shaping, QoS. 
  • Technical Project management experience - preferred
  • Professional certification (e.g. CCIE Written) - preferred
  • Knowledge of coding languages for scripting (e.g. Python, Perl) - preferred
  • Experience with network diagnostic, monitoring and analysis tools (e.g. SolarWinds network tools) - preferred
  • Experience working on various Network product line such as Gigamon, F5 & Palo Alto – preferred
